During the oceanic battle against the seabound angel, Asuka and Shinji become more entwined than any other pair in history.  No one can explain it, save that they're acting much more different than usual....

Discovering their newfound bond, can Asuka and Shinji still serve the oppressing demands of defending humanity while struggling with their own identities?  Furthermore, can two people in the midst of a war adjust to being so close to one another that the old axiom "one mind in two bodies" doesn't even compare?

While the team in Japan is dealing with their various situations, on the other side of the world, the forces of the United States Joint Mechanized Strike Force, better known as NERV-2, must deal with an Angel threat of their own in Nuevo Los Angeles.

When a crisis threatens the world's main munitions plant, both the US and Japanese EVA teams rush to the rescue, and the meeting between the two teams is an experience perhaps even odder than the bond between Shinji and Asuka.

One of the EVA pilots is targeted for assassination, and the only hope for rescue lies with another EVA pilot, equally in danger!  Who is behind it and what does this spell for the fate of the burgeoning US/Japanese team?
